รวงผึ้ง เป็นดอกสีเหลือง มีกลิ่นหอมตลอดทั้งวัน บานได้นาน 7-10 วัน ช่อดอกดกเกิดตามซอกใบเป็นช่อสั้น โคนกลีบเลี้ยงเชื่อมติดกัน ปลายแยกออกเป็น 5 แฉกคล้ายรูปดาว ไม่มีกลีบดอกมีเกสรตัวผู้จำนวนมากซึ่งส่วนที่มองเห็นเป็นสีเหลืองเหมือนดอกนั้นเป็นเกสรตัวผู้รวมกันเป็นกระจุก เมื่อบานเต็มที่ดอกมีเส้นผ่าศูนย์กลาง 1.5 ซม. มีกลิ่นหอม เมื่อดอกบานพร้อมกันทั้งต้น จะดูสวยงามอร่ามตาและส่งกลิ่นหอมชื่นใจ และออกดอกครั้งละมากๆจนเต็มต้น เมื่อดินแห้งตามธรรมชาติ

รวงผึ้ง เป็นไม้กลางแจ้ง ชอบขึ้นในที่แล้ง ไม่มีน้ำท่วมขัง จึงจะมีดอกสีเหลืองดกเต็มต้น แต่หากได้น้ำมากหรือขึ้นบนที่ชุ่มน้ำจะมีดอกประปราย

รวงผึ้ง มีดอกสีเหลือง เป็นสีที่ตรงกับวันพระราชสมภพ และผลิดอก ออกสีเหลืองบานสะพรั่ง ในช่วงเดือน กรกฎาคม – สิงหาคม ซึ่งเป็นช่วงวันพระราชสมภพ คือวันจันทร์ 28 กรกฎาคม พุทธศักราช 2495
